Waiting from Ventrac on virtually everything that my dealer didn’t already have in stock, with no firm delivery promise. List includes tough cut, power bucket, roller assembly for aerovator, auxiliary hydraulics and 12v power, rear work lights, slope indicator, and dual wheels. We all now Ventrac does not operate a refinery, so their proprietary motor oil and hydraulic oil are rebranded from some supplier; maybe Texaco or XOM or Valvoline/Marathon?

Understanding the Context

My dealer was pretty open about that and said any top quality motor oil that meets the grade and spec would be fine, but he was more vague about hydraulic/transmission fluid. Ventrac is one of the relatively few brands of ride on machines in the USA that advertises the capability of mowing a 30 degree slope, and they have a Youtube video demonstrating mowing a 30 degree slope. I am leaning toward purchasing the Ventrac 31 hps gas mower and am looking at attaching the Steiner PTO Chipper Shredder which I understand is made by Bear Cat. I note in other posts that Jack Il has a Bear Cat Chipper Shredder and I note that he has a Ventrac mower.

Key Insights

Jack did you buy the... I’ve been scouring the interwebz for months, and more and more I like the idea of a ventrac. This is soly for personal snow removal, and helping neighbors on the side to justify a purchase. I’m looking at a machine with a snow blower and a loader bucket, similar to a skidder, but without... The Ventrac does not seem to have much ground clearance, so I suppose if a wheel dropped in a hole on one of those slopes, you would bottom out well before much chance of a roll over.

Final Thoughts

If you now decide that gas is an option instead of diesel, I still lean toward diesel and I think diesel is still to be preferred.
